My students face so many challenges, but they realize that education is the vehicle to drive them towards a more promising future. With so many issues, it is my mission as their educator to take them away and rescue them from their pressing worries through the joys of meaningful experiences and exposure to what life has to offer.
Our Title I school is eligible for 100% free/reduce lunch program and we have many students who come from military families, retired and active duty.
We strive to plant seeds of hope and reassure the students that education is the key that unlocks the doors of opportunity and future success. By understanding that there is more to life than what meets the eye, it is my belief that my students will do what it takes to beat the odds, defy the statistics, and embrace the world of education and all it has to offer.
My Project
Earth & Environmental Science students will use these bins to collect recyclables from each classroom to reduce our school's ecological footprint and help keep our town and county clean and healthy. Our school has more than 800 students, each of whom use things like plastic bottles, aluminum cans, and paper each day. If all of these end up in the trash, a huge amount of material is being wasted. Our Earth Science students are committed to spreading environmental awareness, and, by collecting recyclable materials from our school, we are headlining the environmental movement in our town and county.
A recycling program already exists at our school, but without, proper collection bins, it has become a complicated, messy, and sometimes ineffective program.
We need proper bins in order to show that we mean business! By placing a bin in each classroom, students at our school will understand that recycling can be easy and effective. Only by getting everyone on board with the concept of reduce, reuse, and recycle, can we as a school become leaders in the fight to protect our environment.
My students also need safety mirrors for our hallways and library to keep everyone safe.
