Mrs. Pendred from Baltimore MD is requesting a class trip through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students the experience of a lifetime to encourage their independence and concern for their natural world through their camping trip at RVR.

Our students come from all over Baltimore City. They are fun, vivacious, creative and energetic spirits. Our school is arts integrated, project-based and student centered. We focus on the whole child and giving them a kind, and inclusive start. My students are inquisitive and persistent in their quest for education.
Our students don't always have access to the same nature experiences other students have.
Baltimore City continues to cut funding for our schools and it's our children who suffer. In an effort to keep a sufficient number of staff members, our field trip budget has been demolished. Fifth graders are seeking funding assistance for a science based camping trip.
The 5th grade camping trip is the first time many of our students have a chance to explore their natural world outside of the city. It gives them the opportunity to be independent and take positive risks while supporting one another. This trip is so important in their understanding of the science work we do throughout the year. It is a culmination in their elementary career.
Children from Baltimore City don't always get the chance to spend time outside for various reasons.
I sincerely hope that my students can be given funding assistance for this experience because many will not have this opportunity in their every day lives. For some of them, this will be their only chance to go camping or participate in these kinds of activities.
