My Students
My class is a wonderful class of 23 diverse students that come from six different countries. They come from a diverse set of backgrounds that include special education students, English language learners, and students that receive free and reduced lunch prices.
We are a Title I school located in Kansas City, Missouri that takes great pride in providing a high quality education for all students. We know our students can, and expect our students to achieve at high levels.
We are a year round school that teaches 31 extra days in the summer. Our students are very dedicated and devoted to their learning. We take great pride in building a positive community and in our classroom we consider ourselves a family. My students need and appreciate tools to help them with their learning.
My Project
My students are learning to love reading and the joy of reading a good book. I want them to have books that they are excited about and are relevant to them.
I want my students to be able to connect to their book, and in order to do that, they need books that reflect them and their lives. I want them to have books with characters that look like them, have experiences similar to theirs, and conflicts they may have faced. I want them to learn to empathize with characters and these books will help with that!
