I recently discussed with our principal how it's fortunate our students ask many interesting questions and how they stay curious about the world around them. They're eager to find reasons as to why things in the world happen and they truly enjoy sharing their thoughts. It's been a few months working with them and I'm still happy to say they continue to have that enthusiasm for science!
My students are full of energy, they're curious, and they're a strong-minded group of individuals living in a neighborhood that doesn't support that about them yet.
Through the excitement of having a science class at their school, I want them to have the necessary tools that are used in the science world so they can best nurture that natural curiosity through hands-on activities.
My Project
The basics of having a 5-subject notebook to organize class notes. During science class, my students use their composition book to take notes and complete labs.
With their 5-subject notebook, they are able to use this to connect what they learn in their science class to other subjects such as math, reading, and social studies.
This will benefit them as they are practicing organization and routine note-taking skills.
They appreciate not having to carry too many spiral notebooks at once as they do not use lockers. The 5-subject notebook serves as a huge consolidation device for them to hold all notes through their semesters. As they practice keeping their notes in one place, these notebooks will greatly help prepare them for high school.
