This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Please help continue to foster the love of reading by helping my students have access to the Percy Jackson and Olympian's Series novels. Our class has completed the first two novels of the series: "The Lightning Thief," and "The Sea of Monsters," and would like to continue reading the series with the next book "The Titan's Curse." I have a class of 4th graders predominately minority, low-income students that do not have a library of books at home. My class was reluctant to read chapter books until I introduced them to this series. Now the don't want to put the book down and stop reading. If there are days in class that we don't have time to read, they get upset. From reading these novels, students in my class started to check out and read chapter books from the library from different series, which in the past, they would not do. My class is additionally set up with a "Camp Half Blood Theme" where I also integrate Greek Mythology learning, Camp Half Blood Games, and themed parties. My class loves it and has a blast! Please help continue the love for reading in my class. We truly appreciate any donations.
