My students need science reading materials. We are studying Earths changing surface. These nonfiction books support our integrated STEM units and literacy instruction.
How do you learn about the real world? My students are excited to grow their brains by learning new things. The earth is a fascinating place. We are learning about exciting, quick earth changes like earthquakes and volcanoes, in addition to slower changes like erosion.
My fourth graders love learning about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) topics.
We are a diverse STEM focus school. Our majority minority school is ethnically and economically diverse. Families support the school as much as their busy work schedules permit. We have a small, active, much appreciated PTO.
My Project
Our students need nonfiction reading materials. Our reading text is mostly fictional stories. These science books will support our integrated STEM units and literacy instruction. Books will be used for whole class instruction, small group reading instruction, partner reading practice, and independent reading practice. Students will learn how to read nonfiction text components like headings, captions, and diagrams.
Students need support and materials to learn to read nonfiction.
Instruction with these books will give students the skills to be successful in the classroom, provide exposure to potential STEM career areas, and develop interest in the world around us. Providing equitable access to materials, education, and ultimately career opportunities, helps develop the future problem solvers for our area and country.
