My students need an iPad to use for center/stations.
"Sometimes when you innovate, you make mistakes. It is best to admit them quickly, and get on with improving your other innovations." -Steve Jobs.
As a teacher, I will have failed my students if I don't provide them with every possible opportunity to use the technology our world requires.
I teach an exceptional group of fourth graders in Texas.
They are creative, imaginative, and are excited by technology and the world around them. My students love to explore, research, and create using the technology our campus provides us. Our school is a Title I campus, but funding for technology is very limited. Last year, we created power points and videos to enhance our learning. They love to work in groups to design plays and other projects that extend their learning.
My classroom instruction is centered around stations, cooperative group learning, and student guided projects. I will use iPads in centers and whole group instructions. Apps that are important for learning include: Infuse learning, survey monkey, Educreations, I motion HD, Faster scan HD, and Edmodo. The students will work cooperatively and individually to extend their learning from books to technology and our world around us. They need the technology knowledge for 21st century living and employment. It is extremely important that they learn how to create using technology. For example: they may create a video using Educreations explaining how to solve a math problem. Students can also work in groups to create thinking maps based on story elements from their book or do research on a topic that is in a nonfiction book they are reading.
I am very excited about using iPads in our classroom to enhance learning.
They can be used in small groups or large groups. Students can use the Apps for games, creating projects, or research. I can also ask a question and have a student do the research without going over and logging onto a computer. I can also use the iPads for quick response questions and opinions. Students use technology on a daily basis. I want to bring the world into our classroom.
