Leading, succeeding, and serving in the heart of Round Rock, our school is committed to growing our students into powerful readers and writers.
Our classrooms are filled with kids engaged in text, lost in magical worlds from far away places, learning crafts modeled by mentor authors, and growing their knowledge in topics of interest.
Students participate in reading and writing workshop daily. Teachers give explicit instruction and then invite students to go off and practice their skills. We become better readers by reading. We become better writers by writing. Growing students love for reading and writing gives them a voice. It creates leaders.
My Project
Our school has been gifted state-of-the-art classroom libraries all organized into collections and shelves based on level, genre, and topic. These books come with an expensive price tag.
These requested carts would allow the safe keeping of our libraries to be sure they can be shared with students for many years.
To ensure all students have access to high-quality, high-interest books, please help fund our project for carts to provide easy access to all grade level classrooms. This cart will allow books that are currently stagnate in one classroom to be shared between all 4th grade classes. The carts will be rolled between the rooms as students look for books.
“Kids who have access to great books become readers. There is simply nothing that makes teaching reading easier, that gets kids reading with tremendous volume, or that lifts reading skills higher than a collection of truly fabulous books.” Lucy Calkins
