This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our students come from a low economic home, where 90% of them receive free breakfast and lunch at school. Their families struggle every day to provide a warm and safe home very few have any money left over to provide supplies for them to bring to school. Even with their hardships, my students come to school every day happy and eager to learn and make a positive change in their lives. They want to learn, grow and become successful in society. But they are in need of your help and support.
My Project
The materials that are listed are critical for my students to help them learn and grow both academically and independently. With the low income of their families, they are unable to provide them with the basic supplies and materials for this to happen. The items in my cart such as pencils, markers, crayons, easel paper, hall passes will greatly benefit my students and already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. Something as simple as a new box of crayons or markers and fresh pencils can totally change the quality of work that a student produces. It is a sense of pride that is seen not only with their finished piece but the smile they exude when handing it in. These students love seeing their work and ideas all around the room, the Post-it Chart Paper and chart markers will allow us to do that. The dry erase markers will allow us to do practice problems and show our thinking on our whiteboards. They love using the whiteboards and it is an excellent way for me to check for understanding. Our hall passes have also been well used and as you can imagine in poor shape. Brand new ones will be very much appreciated and put to use immediately too! One item in the cart that I know would make a huge impact would be the "IPEVO Point 2 View USB Camera. This camera will allow me to display all worksheets, pictures etc. onto the board. We can complete assignments together it will help my students greatly. As a teacher, I can not begin to describe the wonderful and immediate impact that your donation will make and as a class, we greatly appreciate it and thank you for helping us succeed in school.
