Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
There are perhaps no days of our childhood we lived so fully as those we spent with a favorite book. –Marcel Proust
This quote shows how important it is to engage young adults in reading to create the love and passion for reading that sometimes can be lost.
When you walk into our room, you are greeted by 22 intelligent and motivated students who are ready to share their love and opinions about learning.
I am very excited to be a part of this 4th grade community this year and cannot wait to see the growth and opinions formed.
My school is located in one of the largest cities in Massachusetts. We reside in one of the poorest neighborhoods in the city. While challenges and struggles can be seen in this community, these students are resilient and come ready to learn everyday.
My Project
My students love to listen to chapter book read alouds. It is a disadvantage that the students cannot follow along due to one copy of the text. If this Charlottes Web and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory project is funded, students will be able to be fully engaged in a chapter book by reading along. This will allow students to explore vocabulary and character feelings while reading along.
This project with help students become engaged and motivated to read chapter books.
As I think about the quote used above, I hope these class sets will help students dive deeply into a book and enjoy every page of it.
