The students in this particular group are my higher level students. They are reading above grade level. These students are hard workers, creative, and inquisitive. They see things in different ways, and challenge each other.
Although many of my students come from low income families, they don't let their circumstances stand in their way.
They come to school each day with smiles, positive attitudes, and a great outlook on life. They work very hard to create new opportunities for themselves.
My Project
Each year I've taught fourth grade I've held a 4th grade book club. They meet once a week to discuss assigned chapters of their books. Moderators are assigned weekly. It is their responsibility to conduct the meetings.
This book club has really engaged my students.
They get excited for reading, and they take their assignment as moderator very seriously. I've been so impressed each year by the great questions, predictions, and just the overall joy my students have found from book club.
In the past, students have supplied their own copies of the books. I'm hoping that by providing these books, more of my students can participate without having to worry about where they will get their books.
