My 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students are enthusiastic learners. They enter my classroom every hour ready and excited to learn. Teaching multiple grades each year gives me the opportunity to teach "my kids" for 3 years before I have to let them go to middle school. Being able to see "my kids" continue to grow in their learning is extremely rewarding!
"My kids" work hard, they want to succeed and they dream of what they will be when they grow up.
Between all grades, each year I teach around 80-100 diverse learners each day. We are in a low income rural area where many families struggle to make ends meet, but these children still dream. As their teacher I dream too... for them.
My Project
When I think of being comfortable to concentrate or to learn, I have different preferences. Sometimes instead of working at my desk, I look for a type of furniture to relax in or that will help me concentrate. It’s the same with students, and they should be given the same opportunity. By offering alternative seating options my students will be able to engage in learning for greater periods of time, due to the ability to address different learning styles.
Alternative seating is more than just bringing in comfy furniture.
With comfortable alternative seating my students will be more likely to be engaged and focused on their work. In addition using alternative seating as opposed to the tradition student desk and chair will create good spaces for interaction. During interaction "my kids" will be able to discuss the stories we are reading, authors, genres and novel studies, and this will increase participation and feed the students desire to be in class. The products that I have chosen will help my students by giving them additional seating options so they can focus, engage, grow and learn how to attain their dreams.
