My Students
Our students are from middle class families. We have a great neighborhood feel to the school with many kids able to walk to school. Highlands students' parents are readily available to help, which is a great support.
I am teaching a 4th and 5th grade combination class. They are eager to learn and always accept a new challenge. They walk in with smiles on their faces. They are all working on grade level and most are working above grade level. They make teaching so much fun!
My Project
I am teaching 5th grade this year. I have issued a 40 book challenge to every student. They are to try and read 40 books this year or at least read more than they did last year. The 40 books are to be from 7 different genres.
With distance learning it is harder than ever to get books into kids hands so I have been lending them out for the kids to read. Every Friday they do commercials on the books they have read to recommend books to others. They are hooked!
