3rd Grade Reading Emergency! Help we are out of books!
My students need over 30 new books to start the year off right! We have a limited amount of classroom books that are older and falling apart. We need chapter books and picture books, including The Flat Stanley Collection Box Set and The Spiderwick Chronicles.
As a student I remember the excitement and the smell of a new book! I couldn't wait to open it up and discover where that book would take me. I moved into a new grade this year and after 4 weeks of school I have run out of books for the kids!
My school in the Lamphere district in Madison Heights, Michigan is a picture perfect school (no really it is) and I have the privilege to teach a group of students this year that walked into the room ready to read!
After adjusting to myself moving to a new building and a new grade I made a promise to my kids that I will get them more books! I can't think of a more important part of a child's education than books! Please Please help us get a classroom library that is exciting and help me give them the best 3rd grade year!
My Project
We need books! I have students that are eager to read and many of them cannot afford to go out and buy these books. I have asked for chapter books of interest to the kids. Many of our series we have are missing books. I have also also asked for popular authors and pictures books to get Math Workshop up and running! I have also asked for an author's chair that is appealing and will be the motivation for students to read to the class and to share what they have written.
This classroom library will not only affect my students but will be there for the new group of kids.
I can't think of anything more important to the elementary experience than books! I want this library to be their favorite place in the room and to inspire them to be life long readers.
