Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students have a tremendous thirst for knowledge and enjoy reading new and exciting books on their level. The students of my classroom are learning to find success and confidence in their literacy and fluency skills and endeavors.

My students are eager learners who thrive on new experiences in the classroom.

They love to discuss stories, make read world and personal connections, as well as share out about their independent reading. Our school is a Title One school based on our free and reduced lunch count. Despite these odds, my students try hard and work towards excellence in and out of the classroom. They are always looking for new books to read and show tremendous enthusiasm towards exceeding their reading goals. Our school stresses active engagements and I am fortunate to have such outgoing and determined students.

My Project

With my students being such eager readers, there are never enough books to go around. Providing such a large assortment of books will reach all learners, at all levels, and promote life long literacy. These books will be used in the classroom library, literacy stations, and for class read aloud meetings. With a large variety of books, our class can also engage in family literacy activities to promote active involvement in and out of the classroom. These books will increase fluency, expand vocabulary, and enhance a love of reading for all students.

With each book read, each student expands upon their vocabulary, deepens their comprehension skills, and becomes more fluent leaders.

Each child will make connections to stories and be inspired to share their knowledge. Each donation towards this project is one step closer to making this dream a reality. One book, everyday, will provide a lifetime of success.
