Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work at a Title I school where many of my students come from various cultural backgrounds. It is important for my students to have resources and tools that will support their learning needs in the classroom. That is why many resources on my list are for students to learn about math in a hands-on and authentic way.
My project is also seeking tools for STEM kits and project-based learning opportunities for science.
The kits allow students to look at the properties of the materials they are working with, and follow a sequence plan to build the kits correctly. This gives opportunities for students to reflect on what they are learning about, and change what they did correctly in their builds.
The project includes a document camera as well, which will give me easy access to show student's work throughout the school day!
I also have math tools listed in this project. These will be to help students with skip counting and multiplication facts in math. They will give students a chance to use their fingers when figuring out their math concepts.
The last few items in my project are for organization. The hook and dividers will be used for students to fill out what they are learning in reading, math, and science. They will also give students the opportunity to keep their supplies together. I know these tools will make a great impact, and I hope you are able to support us!
