Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This is my first year teaching in a new school, in a new grade level, and sadly, I've inherited a classroom without any books!
My students attend a large school in a poverty stricken neighborhood.
100% of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. More than 85% of the children in my class are the first in their families to learn English. The majority of the children are immigrants whose families work tirelessly in the agricultural industry.
My Project
I would love to give my students the gift of reading by providing a collection of quality literature and non-fiction texts in class, but also by sharing these materials with the families through our school's home reading club. I hope that every night my students can take home a good book to share with their parents and siblings.
Your generous donation will give my students a wonderful gift: quality literature to hold in their hands, share with their families, and remember for a lifetime.
I believe that with this project my students can become lifelong readers!
