Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In my third grade class, I have been fortunate enough to have students that love to read. They show great enthusiasm for reading and often share information about the books they are reading and make book recommendations. My students love to be in the library every Monday and challenge themselves to read a variety of books and increase their reading level and fluency.
These third grade students are eager to learn and are always enthusiastic about reading a new book.
My class is energetic, inquisitive, and full of optimism.
My Project
In my 3rd grade class, students are beginning to discover authors they love. In class students have begun exploring authors such as Judy Blume and Beverly Cleary.
As students discover new authors, they have begun to develop a love for books and want to keep reading books by the same author.
We have enjoyed books such as "Ramona the Pest," "The Witches," and "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing." However in order to continue discovering new titles by the same author, our classroom is in need of more books by the authors we love.
In addition to reading books by the same authors, students are beginning to engage in author studies. They are examining books by the same author and looking for similarities and themes among them. This is generating a deeper interest in reading for students, therefore building upon their fluency and comprehension.
