Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in my classroom are typical 21st-century students who gain the most knowledge and understanding from hands-on STEM activities. I want my students to leave knowing more than just spreadsheets, word documents, and clicking a mouse. I want them to be creators and inventors of the future.
We have experimented with Makey Makey, Squishy Circuits, MinecraftEdu, Ev3 Robotics, Ozobots, Scratch, Code, Raspberry Pi, 3Doodlers, MicroBits, Bloxels, Sphero Robots, and Stop Motion Video Creation.
For many of the students, school is the only place they have access to computers and the Internet and can learn about computer programming.
My Project
My students are surrounded daily with technology that allows them to take part in our rapidly changing innovative world. With the help of a device like the 3Doodler, my students can build models of their creations and bring them from the 2D world into our 3D reality.
My goal for the students who step into my class is that they will be the creators and doers of the 21st Century, not merely consumers and users of the latest technology fads.
The idea that my students could use a 3D printing technology with such ease is very appealing. The only limits on what they create will be their imagination and creativity. The doodlers will be a welcome addition to the Maker Space I envision for my current and future students.
