Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My small school in Texas is a bilingual charter school which offers parents an alternative to the surrounding school district. It often breaks my heart when I get a new student who describes their experience in the 8th grade public school as physically violent or neglectful. But, it also makes me glad that my classroom can be a refuge for these students.

I can’t wait to get to school in the morning just so that I can see my kiddos!

They go out of their way to brighten my day despite having their own struggles outside of my classroom. We are a Title 1 school, so many of these kids don't have much at home.

I want my students to be able to come to class, not worry about affording school supplies, and have FUN. That is my main goal. As a result, my kids love coming to science class! We do have fun, but we also LEARN, we learn a lot. They even teach me sometimes!

They are the BEST!

My Project

Our school currently does not have a 3D printer and I feel like that should change. There are so many reasons a school should have a printer, and not just for our engineering class. I teach science, and we could make lesson specific models for our students! Sharing the 3D printer between departments would be great because then the students could learn how to code and use the device to create their own toys and models. Our students deserve to learn to use modern technology so they won't get left behind. Help them out, and help us buy a 3D printer!
