3D Printing Student-Run Business for Financial Literacy Real-World Skills!
Help me give my students a Flashforge Adventurer 3 3D printer to help grow their student-run business as they continue down their path of learning real-world financial literacy skills.
My students are eager to find out about and use technology in any way that they can! We are a 5-6 grade building in the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh. Our school has put a huge emphasis on STEM and STEAM projects over the last couple of years and our students have stepped up to the plate on any task put before them. I want to continue to challenge and enrich them as far as I can!
We have a passionate group of students that cannot wait to get their hands on new materials to help them in their education career!
We have a great faculty and staff as well as an extremely supportive community behind us!
My Project
My students will use the Flashforge Adventurer 3 3D printer to design, create, print, market, and sell 3D products. The students are familiar with the 3D design and are getting good at creating amazing ideas, but we are trying to replace an older model 3D printer that no longer works well or consistently. The students will use this new printer to expand their student-run business. They will be the ones in charge. They will be the ones making the decisions. They will be the one's marketing, advertising, and selling the products. This will give them hands-on learning through the lens of an entrepreneur.
The goal is for my students to run every aspect of their own business, from the design, creation, production, sales, and financial responsibilities that go along with all of it.
This year, our students in the school were able to start their own student-run businesses, through the guidance of the Real World Scholars and EdCorps programs. We are looking to expand on that as they have started to produce and market their ideas. With this new printer, our students will be able to keep working towards this goal. Please help us on our journey as the students learn all the financial aspects of running their own business.
