My Students

Our students come from a diverse range of backgrounds with a wide variety of socio-economic classes and ethnicities represented. We have a strong ELL (English Language Learners) program and a large Special Education population. Despite the struggles that some of our students face at home, they come to school ready to learn and play.

Our students are wonderful 6-8th graders who work hard to be the best that they can be.

This project will give our students an opportunity to create new projects using our school's 3D printers

My Project

Our students are given opportunities throughout the year to come to the library and solve "design challenges." Students will be using the Design Process of: Ask - Imagine - Plan - Create - Improve. Working independently or with a team they will be creating ways to solve the challenge.

By having a 3D printer they are able to create and program ideas to make their ideas come to life much better than with paper or pencil.

They are able to innovate and iterate design ideas and come up with new concepts.

Our two 3D printers were given to our library through a DonorsChoose grant (YEAH!) and have been working wonderfully for the past 2 years. However, due to so much usage by our students the heating element is no longer working properly. In order to have the best product for students these nozzles are needed to help have great 3D projects for students.
