Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have been teaching for 10 years. I enjoy the challenges that the students bring to the classroom. My students are from all walks of life. I anticipated that I would be teaching multiple cultures and want to be the best teacher to my students. I went to school to get my Masters in Multi-Cultural Education. I wanted to be able to connect with each and every one of my students. The students and I have a mutual respect for each other.
I teach in a low income/high poverty school.
The students attend each day ready to learn. The students enjoy school. After a school break many of the students say they are happy to be back in the classroom.
The students in my classroom are "super students" who are ready to learn, unwavering, prepared, excellent, and are trustworthy. The students are eager to learn and are very excited about being active learners.
My Project
Our students have been using robots and other technologies for several years now. We have been hard at work learning about computer science, coding, and using technology to better our education.
These 3D printing pens will help solidify our ideas and understandings from previous science and engineering lessons.
Students will be using all of the the core STEAM subjects, those being Science, Technology, Art, Engineering, and Mathematics. These pens will require students to plan, model, and then build their creations. They are STUDENT FRIENDLY pens that include cool/safe touch technology that will not burn their little fingers! Integrating this into our curriculum will allow students to prepare a presentation to our class, describing what they made, how it was designed, and what their next steps will be.
I plan to have a 'Artifact Museum' where students can invite their families to come and watch their presentations to the classroom. This will help build parent engagement and participation in their child's education. Community support can also be included in this project; there are no boundaries, especially when working in the 3D world!
Thank you for your support of my students, they appreciate it!!
