This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My robotics students are a pretty neat group of kids. We are a Title I district meaning a certain percentage of our students live below the poverty line. Despite all the disadvantages this implies, my students enjoy and thrive in my technology heavy classroom. They get to talk, move around, and build wonderful creations every day.

As they have learned robotics better, my students have expanded their horizons and set their sights higher with the desire to learn, compete, and be better than they were.

My Project

My students look forward to robotics class every day. We have lots of fun building and programming our robots. Some days, however, seeing how technology can help our lives and the lives of others is difficult for some of them to see.

Enter the 3d printer!

What better way to see the practical application of programming and our ability to manipulate technology? Just the mention of 3d printing gets some of my students jumping with excitement.

I believe that watching this machine build objects will further spark their imagination. Once they realize the object being built is something they created, something they told the printer to make...I can only see that feeling turn to passionate wonder.
