My Students

My students come from low income backgrounds. They do not have the opportunity to experience very much technology outside of the classroom. I have made it a goal of mine to introduce as much technology as possible to them so they may have a well-rounded education prior to entering the real world as young adults.

Our school is a community that serves many military families from the Little Rock Air Force base.

We try to tie in how engineers have a role to play in the military as well as civilian life. This gives my students the ability to see how engineering could help them later in life even if they chose to follow in their parents' footsteps.

My students love hands-on activities and projects. About 90% of my class is project-based learning. This creates enthusiasm in the classroom and allows students to learn through experiences and not just direct instruction.

My Project

My students are in need of a Dremel 3D printer to help complete our 3D printing lab. My students spend most of the semester learning CAD software and designing parts of airplanes, hover crafts, as well as brackets. My goal is to make it where the students can print and assemble the parts they create in CAD software.

Having this 3D printer will help us to apply what we are learning in CAD software by developing hands on material.

The parts of the planes that students design and 3D print will be tested as a glider for aerodynamics. We plan on using this printer daily in our classroom.
