I am the Project Lead The Way teacher at a small elementary school. I teach 800 K-5th students. My students are all inquisitive, happy, and eager learners. They are excited to come into my classroom to explore and learn new things. My passion for education is to create and provide students with the learning opportunities to ask questions, discover, research, analyze, and formulate their own engineer design. My goal is to become a facilitator in their research process.
This year, K-5 students will become an expert in the engineering design process to broaden their experiential learning with S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) lessons!
My Project
The increasing numbers of 3D printers in schools is increasing. 3D printing is a relevant and engaging educational tool that prepares our students for future jobs that will require knowledge of 3D printing. My students have been utilizing the engineering design process to design and create models for many of their STEAM Challenges from basic school supplies. They have applied their knowledge of design thinking into their work. My students need 3D Printers to create their models in order to prepare them for the future. By incorporating different forms of technology, my students are gaining valuable knowledge and experiences. These technology-rich lessons that incorporate computer coding, personalized computing, and 3D printing will prepare my students for 21st Century Skills. I want to expose my students to the skills needed to 3D print a model. 3D Printing will enrich our STEAM Engineering Challenges.
