Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our FIRST Robotics programs provide hands-on experience in solving real-world challenges and exposes students to physics, mechanics, electronics, programming, business, financial management, teamwork, and leadership.

These students are emerging engineers, coders, and designers who will be preparing for an intense build season that was interrupted and postponed due to COVID-19 closures.

Students are of all grade levels, with a diverse background. Your help is needed as our school is Title I and the FIRST Robotics event requires significant operating costs.

My Project

Our Robotics Teams are involved in a community outreach project to provide 3D printed PPE to medical and community groups that are in great need, in addition to making PPE to be distributed within local schools, to our staff, and families.

Now that NYC schools have gone full remote again, we want to provide students with the means to learn how to 3D print in the safety of their homes.

Our plan is to have student makers and designers rotate use of the printers to create an equitable use of these devices to help manufacture PPE, and get more hands-on practice in FDM. Additionally, your generous contribution will help the students learn about different types of 3D printing filaments, industrial applications, material characteristics; and 3D modeling and design that will be utilized with the materials.

As the country is seeing rising COVID19 case numbers with increased hospitalizations, our team ambassadors are seeking to meet the growing demand for PPE, such as face shields, masks, and ear saver straps (to provide relief for long hours in masks)
