Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
These amazing junior high students are spending their after school time learning about the engineering design process and robotics. They are paving the way for STEAM!
These junior high students work hard to compete in the FIRST FTC program.
This is our fourth year and we are happy to report that we are growing. This year we will field two competition teams virtually, competing in smaller groups and sending in our results to be COVID safe.
These students are all between 12 and 14 years old, primarily Hispanic, and part of the Sharyland ISD public school system here in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. They are driven to live up to their school motto: Pride, Integrity, Tradition.
My Project
Students learning from home will participate in the 3D design process and be part of the team decisions that dictate what needs to be created using this 3D printer. Our in-person students will work with designs submitted by their virtual teammates to see custom parts for their robot design printed and incorporated into their robots. These robots are built to compete in the FIRST FTC robotics challenge.
Our junior high campus here in the RGV supports two awesome, hard-working first or second-year FTC robotics teams.
