Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The 3rd graders in my class are truly amazing. They come to school everyday ready to work and are excited about the day, even with the struggles they may face outside of the classroom. Many of my students speak a language other than English at home. My students come from an urban, low-income city comprised largely of immigrant families. The key to success with my students is making the learning engaging, real, independent and powerful. My students have a variety of strengths and with your help I can give them opportunities of a lifetime.
My Project
The students in my class are truly wonderful and curious about the world around them. With 3D printing in the classroom my students can become creators and inventors, allowing them to print any idea they can imagine. Even the most reluctant students will get excited about printing concepts in a 3D model, letting them engage in learning in new ways.
With a 3D printer and extra filament my students will have to opportunity to use a relatively new technology preparing them for years to come.
3D printing in the classroom allows my students to persevere when testing new ideas through a trial and error process. Working as a team the students can work on collaborating with others and communicating ideas. They can create models to show math concepts like fractions and geometric shapes. These 21st Century skills will help my students become real world problem solvers, creators and inventors!
