Our students are hard-working, high achieving innovators who strive to rethink old ideas that still exist in education. They are collaborators and risk-takers. Our students have a strong understanding of various forms of design thinking, which allow them to connect with others by considering their needs first.
Recently, our students have started to explore ways we can reach beyond the boundaries of our own school to inform and improve the lives of people in our community.
In doing so, the proper equipment will be needed for developing the products necessary to work with local businesses, their peers, and to simply represent learning.
My Project
The Flashforge 3D printers will allow for students to create models and experience rapid prototyping for different curriculum-based activities. Students in grades 4-6 currently design models for different businesses or for passion projects they are pursuing. With 700+ students, we often experience a long delay with print times. By adding an additional printer, we can print an extra 8 prints per day, resulting in an extra 40 per week. This would be the third printer for our lab leading to a more efficient printing system. The filament will be needed in order to create each print. The monitor is a 144 hz monitor which will be useful for efficient modeling when students eventually build their own computer, and will serve as an update/progress station regarding prints.
