My students are my family. They come from many different backgrounds, but they all have the same goal: to master third grade and to learn how to be engineers. The name of our class is "Engineering Kids". We plan to design balloon-powered cars, build mini houses and learn 3D modeling this school year. We will integrate science and engineering with math and language. We will solve real-world problems through project-based learning.
My engineers already know that our class is something special.
I look forward to teaching them new ideas and showing them that even third-graders can be engineers. I love watching my students energize when they get to learn different design techniques. I know that they will remember the engineering aspect of my class the most. This class continues to impress me every single day!
My Project
My class needs a new Ender 3D printer to keep up with our school's fundraisers. We will make and sell 3D printed key chains to our parents and family members. Proceeds from the sales will go to fund 3D printing education and other engineering and science projects, including robotics.
I believe that students need to have access to engineering science at a young age.
I currently teach 3D printing and design to the entire third-grade class at Garehime Elementary School. Every student learns how to use Tinkercad and then designs their very own key chain. This has become the most popular science class in the third-grade.
With proceeds from our 3D printed key chain fundraising efforts, our team would like to now offer robotics to our third-graders. Adding the Ender 3 3D printer to the mix will greatly increase our printing capacity and help us raise the necessary funds quicker. The students love seeing that their designs help raise funds for their school. It makes them feel important and teaches them financial literacy skills along the way.
