Connor is a sophomore at our school who is heavily involved on our robotics team. In fact, he is the leading programmer and member of our drive team, frequently staying late after school until he is satisfied with the day's effort.
Time and time again, Connor has demonstrated a drive to succeed and the initiative to overcome obstacles in his path. He has been instrumental in instructing new students in the use of our 3D printer, helping students to design and troubleshoot their projects.
The students in my classes LOVE 3D printing. Utilizing CAD skills, my students are able to design spinners, key chains, rings, jewelry, and magnetic accelerator cannons. Watching the "public displays of enthusiasms" from my students as they research, design, troubleshoot, and manufacture their finished products is priceless.
Welcome to the 21st century! These students will be the future engineers and entrepreneurs of tomorrow. They are learning valuable skills in technology, engineering, and leadership as they work together to create their dream projects. Watching the constant drive to try and design and manufacture the perfect "spinner" is amazing to behold !
In Their Own Words
Our single 3D printer simply can NOT keep up with the workload that is being placed upon it by myself and my fellow students in the class. With an additional printer, more student projects will be processed in a timely fashion. The waiting list for using our printer has been as long as 5 days!
I have been striving to teach my classmates how to utilize the 3D printer. I enjoy working with other students, explaining what design constraints need to be considered to create a successful 3D printed object. Also, I enjoy instructing them in how to use a CAD program to create their object.
My classmates are not able to create all of the objects they design, because we are limited to a single 3D printer. It takes from 20 minutes to as much as 6 hours to print a single object on the printer. With the purchase of an additional printer, we will be able to DOUBLE the number of projects we are able to print.
