"It's not that we use technology, we live technology" - Godfrey Reggio. This quote fits into my curriculum perfectly. In my CTE (Career and Technical Education) classroom, my students live technology every day through the various activities and lessons that we do. STEM is a big part of what we do every day. The students in my classroom come from various backgrounds and situations.
One universal thing that my students learn in my classes are that they are in charge of their own futures and that the world is at their fingertips.
These students are eager to learn and love to get their hands on anything that will help them better understand things in school. My students are ready to take control of their education. Our school follows the Student Enrichment Model (SEM) which teaches that all students are entitled to learn in ways that will help them be successful both in and outside of school. This model ignites a passion for learning in students. One of the main ways that students learn is through technology. The more technology my classes have, the more that my students can explore their strengths and learning styles to become more successful.
My Project
In order for students to become independent learners and build on their own individual talents and strengths, they need some technological resources. We have a technology and engineering curriculum unit that suggests students use some advanced technology in the classroom, such as 3D printers and pens.
To give students the chance to individually participate and personalize their assignments during this technology and engineering unit, we are asking for 3Doodler pens.
These pens will enable students to create things that they have only been able to imagine in the past. Students will be able to use their artistic talents, abilities and imaginations to come up with 3D models that they have always dreamed about.
