I teach art to students in grades kindergarten through fifth, and they all share a passion for art that stretches beyond the classroom. My students love learning about and creating art. They are always eager to begin lessons and show great pride in their work.
My students love technology and are energized when contemporary media is incorporated into their lessons.
They enjoy creating digital art, making sculptures, and using unconventional materials in art. Many of my students use technology to create art at home.
My Project
3D pens will give my students an opportunity to create art using technology. This will aid in fulfilling our state standard of incorporating contemporary media into art. Our school has a 3D printer and our students are very excited about using it. However, our school is very large and the time involved with creating and printing is limiting. 3D pens in art would reach a larger population of students more quickly.
Future projects would include lessons in architecture and creating 3D structures with my fourth and fifth grade classes.
Another idea for a lesson would be to challenge my students to go from 2D to 3D by making a 3D name plate. The possibilities are endless.
