Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

We are a Title I school, and many of our students do not have the opportunities that many other children have. My project idea is inspired by teaching STEM concepts in the classroom. I would like to expand and engage my students' learning beyond the classroom to include opportunities for possible STEM related careers and their potential impact on their lives, their community, and around the world.

My students are ready and excited to learn.

I am sure that if they are given the opportunities to learn and have access to technology like other children, it will help motivate them to succeed in school and in life. This project will help students realize that people care about improving our students' academic success and investing in their futures.

My Project

My project will provide the needed supplies and opportunities for the students in my classes to combine their artistic abilities with real-world scientific applications. These 3D printing pens will allow students to learn and explore the principles of art and design, science, math, and engineering in a fun and engaging way.

My students will be able to use this new technology to explore all aspects of designed thinking, artistic creativity, and the engineering design process.

Students will be able to work collaboratively, in small teams, to design and create prototypes; build structures; explore shapes; create new textures and patterns; and revise or improve other lesson-related projects. Using the 3Doodlers will help students make physical sense of concepts that may otherwise be hard to understand. These activities will help to develop original thinking, expression, and tinkering within my students. My project will not only benefit students here in the classroom, but will generate innovative thinking and creativity, which can build confidence and steer them towards career paths in STEM related fields.
