Shoot for the moon and even if you miss you will land among the stars. I want my students to set their sites high for their future. In order to do this, they must be exposed to the latest technologies.
My school is an alternative learning center for students that struggle with learning in a traditional environment.
Up until this year, these 6th, 7th, and 8th graders did not have "a place of their own" but were mixed in with the 9th - 12th graders. That is about to change this coming school year. My classroom is a newly created classroom for these students so that they may soar and show their true potential.
There is a plethora of reasons why a student would be placed with me, but the goals remain the same; to help these students become life long learners and productive citizens with good character. All 15 of my students are unique and talented with a variety of learning styles and diverse needs. My classroom will be filled with many opportunities for success and this project is only a part of that.
My Project
My students will be able to use this tool to understand the up and coming technology of 3D printing. The Makerbot Replicator 2 will allow my kids to design, develop and do great things, possibly shaping their future in the area of STEM. With the emerging technology of 3D printing the students will be able to take their designs within a STEM project, and then use those designs to develop real 3D models. After doing some testing on their product, the students will redesign their projects. With this project my students will be on the cutting edge of today's technology.
This project will make such a fun positive impact on my students and their learning.
