My students need 3D pens to create 3D art projects and models. They can create objects based on books they read, geometrical shapes, historical figurines, and more. They can be creative and imaginative!
My job allows me the opportunity to work with students at all grade levels, from pre-k to 12th grade. These students live in a rural area and attend school in a district where more than 65% of the students receive free and reduced-price lunch.
My students are digital natives and do not know of a time without technology.
They have a deep interest in technology and how things work. While reading and math gaps are common, technology gaps are not. Technology integration is one of the ways students successfully learn content.
Students will be able to use the 3D pens and filament to create objects that can be integrated into other subject areas. For example, they could make character figurines based on literature read or they could build scientific models. The 3D pens will let them bring abstract ideas into reality.
The 3D pens will also be used to foster creativity and imagination.
When they aren't associated with an integrated project, they will be used as a chance to make free choice projects.
The ten pens and filament will be circulated throughout the district based on teacher request. Having a set of 10 pens will allow more students the opportunity to create items in a shorter time frame.
