My students are inquisitive, creative and talented. They have a great desire to learn new things and to express themselves using lots of different mediums. Their appreciation for art is nourished by the support of their parents, our teachers and administrators, and our community.
Our students come from different walks of life, but they have a common interest, curiosity and love of technology which keeps them engaged in almost all aspects of their academic learning.
Their desire to learn about different cultures and places and times in history through art is inspiring.
My Project
Creating Automata with Simple Machine Parts
It's important that my students not only know how to use today's technology, but that they feel empowered to use it in creative and purposeful ways.
We all know that getting technology in the hands of students is crucial to encourage their learning and ability to thrive in today's technological environment.
My students will create 3D sculptures that move using simple machine parts made with a da Vinci Mini 3D Printer. The 3D printer allows students to work out design plans and problems before printing out their final sculpture.
By creating these automata (mechanical sculptures), they will gain understanding of how simple machines work, along with skills in design and creative problem solving. These are abilities that they can carry on onto any educational path they choose.
