Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
All of my students are incredibly eager and enthusiastic to partake in new learning experiences. They have loved using virtual reality with google cardboard and look forward to taking their experience a step further. Many of these students haven't used, let alone seen, a 360-degree camera. Recently, my classes have viewed 360 photos on the computer and google cardboard. However, they yearn to take their experience a step further. Being given the opportunity to create their own 360 images is extremely exciting to them. Allowing my students the opportunity to create 360-degree photo spheres will provide them with a unique way of documenting their learning, as well as viewing their classmates work through google cardboard.
My Project
My students have the opportunity to create a solar system project each semester, which has them compare earth to one of the planets in our solar system. The project requires that they build a website on Google sites to document their work, as well as provide an instructional video modeling the size and distance of their planet compared to earth. This instructional "video" can be done in a variety of ways, but my students would LOVE to have the opportunity to document their learning in 360. The photospheres they would create could be added to their websites, which is an incredibly amazing feature.
With a 360 camera, students will be able to create their own photo spheres to document their learning.
They will be able to add their voice to their photo spheres using a program called story spheres. This will allow for an immersive learning experience as students view their classmates work through google cardboard. While viewing the 360 photospheres, the students will hear the digital narration created by their classmates and provide peer feedback. Creating these interactive learning tours will create an authentic and unique experience.
