Our campus is located in the international district of Houston, Texas. Many of my students will be the first ones in their families to attend college. They are eager learners and high achievers who are on a journey to make it to and through college.
My students have set the bar high even though they have many hurdles to jump.
Our campus is a Title 1 school because many of my kids cannot afford essential school supplies. Many of the come from households with limited resources and support yet every day they put in the work and dedication needed to make their dreams of making it through college a reality.
My Project
My students work collaboratively in groups of 4. These books will be used to help the members one group to become a experts about insects who are decomposers.
These books will also help them understand the role that decomposers play in our ecosystem.
After they have become experts about decomposers, they will use the 360 camera to capture images that will be used to create an interactive, virtual exploration that they will use to teach their classmates about what they have learned about decomposers.
Through this project, students will strengthen their knowledge about decomposers, their communication skills, their ability to collaborate, their ability to create high quality presentations, and their ability to use technology effectively. This project will also make my students more conscious of the vital role that insects play in our world and will allow them to understand the connectivity of all living things in an ecosystem.
