Help me give my students a Holy Stone HS720 drone and battery so they can learn how to take aerial photos and videos of crime scenes to assist them in plotting GPS locations while documenting evidence.
Our high school in Florida is one of only five schools that offers a Criminal Justice Program. We currently have around three hundred students within the program, and it is a four-year academy. Our school is in a rural area and more than half of our students are from low-income households.
Students in the Criminal Justice Program are future leaders within our communities.
They are taught to display honesty, loyalty, and integrity within their daily lives and strive to be the leaders of our school. Our class motto is "Character is what you do when others are not looking."
My Project
I want to challenge my students by setting up a project to teach them how to use a drone to document evidence left at a crime scene by using the GPS on the drone.
My students need a Holy Stone HS720 drone with a spare battery so they can learn how to take aerial photos and aerial videos of crime scenes to assist them in plotting GPS locations while documenting evidence.
Once the students have mastered the drone, they will take measurements on the ground using a measuring wheel and then will compare the measurements so they can sketch a crime scene to "scale".
My goal is this to be a project that my students can take their measurements home along with the evidence for homework and let the students teach their parents how to sketch a crime scene together. I am a firm believer that bringing parents and students together can build strong relationships that will continue for years to come.
