A place for everyone. A safe place for everyone. I am a kindergarten teacher. Next year we will be restructuring due to extreme budget cuts. We were a SAGE school (1 teacher to 15 students) and now we will be having up to 30 kindergarten students in a class.
DIRE BUDGET CUTS-- Our school is no longer a SAGE school (1 teacher to 15 students). Currently we are restructuring for next year. Our school is experiencing dire budget cuts in all areas, therefore we will have very large classes. The teachers here have never had a budget to buy classroom supplies with. It is very important for kindergarten age children to have a sense of community and also to have a personal boundary to designate their space while learning in a large group setting. For many, many years we have used tape on the carpet to designate their individual spots and in some cases we have to tape off a box to help students identify their personal space. The custodians do not like us to use tape as the residue is hard to clean off the carpets. The custodians said that we can use painters tape as it doesn't leave much residue but unfortunately it doesn't stay on the carpet and we have to replace it every few days. We have also used small carpet remnants in the past but they interfere with learning as the students pick at them and slide them. They do not stay stationary on the floor.
A place for everyone classroom carpet from Lakeshore would be the perfect answer. I have been dreaming of such a carpet for many, many years. The students would have their own personal space. Next year we will have roughly 25-30 students in a classroom. This carpet would be a fabulous way to help manage student behavior so that optimal learning can take place. I anticipate that this carpet would last for 20 or more years. So this purchase would be cost effective and long lasting.
I am so grateful and appreciative for your consideration of this request. I can already see the smiling faces and my own when the children see the beautiful carpet that they can call their own. I just want to say again that this purchase would be long lasting and is not something to be used and tossed. I understand that there are many requests to choose from and I sincerely hope that you will consider mine. Thank you for your generosity.
