This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students have had very limited exposures to science and engineering, and are full of curiosity about the nature of science in the world today.
My students enjoy Science and love that we learn about it in so many different ways.
I teach in an urban school district where approximately 75% of students receive free or reduced lunch. Many come from homes where there is little support for educational endeavor; yet, my students are excited to learn about science everyday, and demonstrate an inquisitive nature about the natural world. Despite having reading levels that are oftentimes significantly below grade level, my students demonstrate a consistent desire to learn about science and engineering.
My Project
My students are very curious about the world around them, and exhibit a strong desire to explore. They are filled with questions about natural sciences, and display a strong desire to experience the future of scientific exploration.
My students need a 3-D printer to explore this new technology that will be a part of their future.
With the ever increasing demand for STEM instruction in the science classroom, this project would help my students experience one type of technology that will be a part of their future lives.
My students will be able to use this 3-D printer to create models that help to reinforce their learning in science. This project will help to energize my students love for science and instill in them a desire to pursue careers in science and engineering.
