Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower. Steve Jobs
We have an engineering program where students are learning Autodesk Inventor. The students have created projects like pegboard toys, hairbrushes, watches, and switch plates. A 3-D printer can bring their drawings to life.
My students are hardworking and constantly challenge themselves to look at ways to solve problems.
They are creative and are great candidates for future engineers. When given a project, the students consistently surprise me with their approach. They are involved, finish on time, and many of them have gone on to continue to build on the Autodesk Inventor program at home.
Our classroom is filled with determined, innovative 8th grade students that love challenges and engineering projects. When put in groups, they work well together and I'm amazed by their collaboration. They are eager to get a 3-D printer to help visualize their drawings and push themselves to see how they can solve everyday problems. These students are future inventors, engineers, and scientists that I can see changing the future for the better.
My Project
The 3-D printer will allow students to use their knowledge of designs made on Autodesk Inventor to come to life. They can build scaled models, prototypes, parts for projects or robots, and futuristic inventions. The students will be using their mathematical skills in calculations, their science skills with physics, and apply engineering principles to combine with technology in Autodesk Inventor.
The 3-D printer will bring so much excitement, curiosity, and creativity to students in my classroom.
My students will make a difference by having a taste of the future and being cutting edge leaders. They will understand the possibilities that they have and create. It will draw so many students to a passion of science, math, engineering, and technology not only through the projects but also to other students that see and hear my students speak about their accomplishments and achievements.
