Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember having to struggle to understand a math textbook? "New generation" online math programs are a great support for math learning and are interactive. Currently, I do not have any laptop computers in my classroom. The hands-on math manipulatives would enhance learning for all students.

I teach 32 eager first grade students who come to school ready to learn.

Our wonderful school is located in sunny, Southern California. My students range from gifted and talented to below grade level. We are proud to be a Nationally Recognized School of Excellence and have won other prestigious awards. Since we are not a Title One school, funding extra projects is very difficult.

My Project

Memorizing basic addition and subtraction facts is essential to future success in math. It is my job to ensure that all 32 kids memorize their facts. It would make my job easier if I had a laptop and math web subscription which helps each child learn at their own speed and level. Daily flashcards help the brain memorize facts. The math sliding number lines and pattern cards provide a great visual aid when demonstrating a math lesson. Kids will love moving the slider with their finger and will be more engaged in the learning process.

My students need to learn their addition and subtraction facts.

Students will enjoy using the laptop which is more engaging than completing a worksheet. The hands-on math sliders will assist children in memorizing their facts. They will be able to visualize how to make a pattern by using the pattern-block activity cards along with the math pattern trays. With your support, we can help these kids develop a love for math. Thank you for your consideration.
