This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are entering this 3rd grade classroom with a willingness and excitement to learn. My school is a STEAM based school, where the students have an opportunity to work hands on daily with technology and flourish within the arts and humanities.
These young students are ready for a successful school year, but a strong classroom foundation must first be built.
Both the entire student population and school face a tremendous economic disadvantage. Every student who attends this school receives both a free breakfast and lunch, this Title 1 school is trying their best to meet even the most basic needs of the students.
With a successful 1st year of teaching under my belt I am hopeful that my 2nd year will be even better! Understanding now how diverse my population of learners are, has helped myself as a teacher develop lessons and utilize materials that promote learning and creativity.
My Project
The materials funded by this project will enhance the multicultural environment of the classroom. Providing literacy that is relatable to the lives of the learners is motivating, this "Multicultural Book Set" is perfect! These books will be used as a read aloud during social studies.
Being able to display "teacher choice" books in the front of the classroom is an opportunity for quick finishers to easily and conveniently access books.
Literacy is a large push this year as many of the students struggle to access books at home.
The LakeShore headphones are a tremendous tool when students independently work, and can focus on their listening comprehension. Thank you for your continuous support in my teaching journey year after year!
