My Students

Our second grade class is a dynamic environment that fosters inquiry-based learning. We believe that all kids should have equal opportunities to explore and create rich academic experiences. In order to make this a reality, all students should be able to access the same resources.

We have a group of 30 second grade students in our public school classroom in the heart of Brooklyn.

Our classroom is filled with unique personalities and life experiences that weave into our daily learning. In turn, empathy and understanding are naturally embedded in our classroom community. Students are the center of our classroom learning space. We encourage them to guide their own learning and become thinkers that question the world around them.

My Project

This project was created to give all children the tools to excel in our 2nd grade learning community. By donating materials to our project, every child will begin the school year ready to learn without the worry of acquiring personalized school supplies. This project provides comfort to families and students by ensuring that all kids will have exactly what they need throughout the school year. It also allows families to spend more time with their children throughout the summer instead of rushing around to find items on the class supply list. We strongly believe that this is the most equitable and efficient way to collect school supplies for the upcoming school year!

With this project, ALL students will have: notebooks, folders, markers, pens, pencils, enough copy paper for the entire school year, paper towels, tissues, hand soap, construction paper, disinfectant wipes, dry erase markers, Post-Its, glue, flair pens, and more.

These materials will be used to engage in daily lessons in all content areas. They will then use these materials to grow and revise their ideas. By gathering our materials collectively, the kids are able to receive more materials at a lower cost than purchasing them individually. It's a wonderful solution to a usually inequitable task.
