My Students

My students are very visual and hands on learners. They love when we get the chance to learn with manipulatives. My 2nd graders get so excited to come up to the front of the room to take turns helping me use the few manipulatives I have. This is why I would love to have enough materials that all of my students can experience hands on learning.

Having access to more manipulatives and materials for our hands on activities will make it so each student can have a memorable learning experience.

In second grade hands on activities help the kids better understand the math we cover. We also have some fun science units that students get to create and build with things like magnets, blocks and playdough. I love to watch my students get excited to learn when they get to actually experience the things we learn in class.

My Project

Having enough math linking cubes, dice, clocks, and number lines for my whole class will make it so my students will have an opportunity to use manipulatives to better see and experience math problems in a way that will help them gain a deeper understanding.

These materials will help my students experience reading, math, and science lessons in a much more hands on way than I have previously been able to give my students.

We will be able to build and create with magnets and play dough for our science units. We will be able to practice sight words and spelling with magnet letters and white boards.
