My Students

My school is a public school that serves 100% military families. This will be my fourth year teaching, and I am so excited to start to implement new and innovative ideas that can help my students' needs!

As I prepare for the new year, I am trying to set up a classroom that will support developmental and emotional needs, along with their academic needs.

I will be looping with my students from 1st to 2nd, and know of their unique social and academic needs.

My students consist of a variety of learners, who while all come from military families, come from various schools throughout the country. It is important that as I serve them, and ease their transition into my classroom, that I have consistency throughout my routines and maintain a positive classroom environment. No matter what state or school my students come from, whether it's at the beginning of the year or during my middle, I want to allow them to take ownership of their learning by providing the supportive environment.

My Project

As I loop from 1st to 2nd grade with my students, I am excited to continue to see my students grow as readers and learners! We have worked hard together over the last year to develop a supportive and enriching classroom environment that supports all students' needs. The noise-reduction headphones will be used by students who need them for loud transitions, such as fire-drills, and in the cafeteria when it is most often too loud or over stimulating. This support allows students to feel safe in their own environment.

My students have been begging me for chapter books, and I cannot wait to continue to nourish their love of reading and learning!They have all worked so hard on developing the foundational skills for reading, and many of them will be transitioning into chapter books.

The books in this project have been selected to reach a wide variety of interests, based on their reading levels.
