This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a proud teacher of forty angelic second-grade girl scholars. We are a single-gender class in a single-gender public school in the southeast area of Washington, DC.
My girls are vivacious young ladies who are full of energy and excited to learn.
We are sisters and are part of a sisterhood at our school. My students all come from low socioeconomic families and are of black descent. Gentrification is currently happening in our area, and that causes a multitude of other struggles.
My Project
Boom cards are a fun and interactive way to teach my girl's concepts that they struggle and have learning gaps with. I will utilize Boom Cards in the distance learning classroom for synchronous and asynchronous lessons to help scholars learn and stay engaged in live lessons and in small groups. During small groups students will be able to interact with me and Boom Cards to learn essential concepts and manipulating them in a gamified way. We have limited access now and the girls love using this technology piece and can't wait to get access to more!
Boom Cards will allow me to differentiate my whole and small group lessons in a meaningful way, by receiving instant data that will help to intentionally drive my curriculum and small groups.
This will allow me to differentiate and hone in on skills that students will benefit from the most.
